So after permits and escorts is his load still above average? SMH
The ITS lane rate is BS anyhow.
Rates are crashing and fuel to the moon!

They generally want $2 a mile and $100 for overnight.
Figure 600 miles on this trips (always add more miles for permit miles, might even be a lot more)
That's $1,300 for Pilot car, let's say another $200 for permits.
That $2700 load now became a $1200 load.
The Pilot car will be making more money off the load than you will when it's all said and done.77fib77, pete781693, JoeyJunk and 3 others Thank this. -
I had to get on here and post this.
This broker in the comments was trying to sell this load by saying hey DOT will be shut down in the state you aren't supposed to go through during the holiday!
That's a new low.Jed2009 Thanks this. -
Pilot car making more money than the very oversize carrier....that's hilarious!
It is like a ballet theater cashier making more money than the very Prima Ballerina.

So I'm going to ask a question, this is probably a dumb question to ask but oh well. Going to ask anyways. Please be respectful.
I know when I look at the news and see that the feds are doing rate hikes, that this affects mortgage interest rates and rates that banks are willing to loan you money at.
Where my confusion comes in, is when news stories talk about the feds doing rate hikes, do those rate hikes affect other personal and/or business bank loans that have nothing to do with mortgages as well?
For example, when buying a semi-truck? Will rate hikes affect the loan interest rates when buying a semi-truck or even a personal 4 wheeled vehicle?
I'm thinking that my answer is yes, that interest rates are set by the fed and then the smaller regional US central banks loan out money (for mortgages, business loans, personal loans, etc. etc.) at the interest rates that the fed says they must loan money at.
If I am correct in my understanding of all of this, then my next question is this: Now that Powell and the fed have been raising the rates in an effort to curtail inflation, have semi-truck prices and trailers (for 18 wheelers) gone down, or have they generally stayed the same price, or are the prices of them still rising like crazy? -

However, the main question now would be...are they actually needed to give assistance to those oversized loads ? I mean not per law but in practicality?77fib77 and ProfessionalNoticer Thank this.
