Rates so bad drivers are driving for free!!! Literally

So here is a little story from yesterday.

Got a nice little local load, round trip, take full loaded trailer bring back empty.

So i got to the receiver to drop the trailer off and appeared someone else had the same load as me and we both where there to pick up empty trailers. Cool they have enough. Shipper tells him the trailer isn’t empty and is full of pallets that needs to go back to the other shipper. Turns around and tells me the same thing. I’m cool with it since its a 5 mile trip and i already got $300 for a total of 10 miles. So ill go with it and no skin off my back. So i ask him for the BOL for the trailer full of pallets, he says he has none and cant print any. While he’s trying to figure things out i talked to the other driver and he’s getting hosed on the rate. I decide to tell him dont take loads without any BOL’s because if he gets stopped he’s going to get screwed. He called his dispatch dispatch told him to take the load. Cool.

So the ware house manager or whatever she was comes back and tells me hey i cant print the BOL so you have to take it without one, i told her i cant drive a loaded trailer without a BOL and that’s that and asked for either an empty trailer or I’m bob tail out. So i ended up bob tailing out.


Turns out the same thing happened again today. This time another driver along with me told him the same thing and his dispatch told him to take the load. I on the other hand once again denied driving a loaded trailer without a BOL.


So it turns out the shipper is saving money by shipping pallets with empty trailers. God please help these idiot drivers.
