I have been watching several types of freight(van, flatbed, etc, etc). Is it just me or are the volumes down as well as rates? My gosh it looks bad? What are you experiencing out their? Is the economy starting to tank? Your thoughts.

I had my best two weeks or close too last week of April, first week of May. Could have definitely set the 3 week record, but was too tired. Now I just left again after basically 1 day off cause they keep throwing more money. I have a second truck and he's balls to the wall as well.
Your thoughts?Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I don’t think the economy is starting to tank. I do think there are less loads on the spot market and about 40% more trucks looking for spot loads compared to a year ago. That will certainly tank rates.
It’s sort of like a gold rush, Bitcoin, stock market, etc by the time the masses hear about it you can be sure it’s over. Then as more and more pile in and buy picks and shovels (tractors) there is no more gold left.
Midwest is dismal at best.Last edited: May 19, 2019

Nobody has told the oilfield.
I do not know what is going on, I will not sign on and prefer to just run the extra board and is so they don't have their thumb on me and tell me when I have to run.
I just got back this morning and could have just turned and burned another round.
I ran two last week, and they know that is ALL I want, but they called my wife probably 15 hours before I could legally be back, and let her know my next dispatch was already in my box. They also told her I didn't have to take it, but would I take it as soon as I could.
I went ahead and took it, but 3000 miles a week on a dirt trail is hard on this old man, especially this time of year.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Quoted a 525 mile run to NC today for $1350. Broker said someone took it for $800. She was prepared to pay north of $1000 minimum and was considering my quote if nothing came up.
Come on people!!!! Get your head outta your ###!D.Tibbitt, chimbotano, SL3406 and 6 others Thank this. -
That's what I'm seeing here for rates. Unbelievable.
