Driving from Grand Rapids MI if anyone is on the way and needs a lift to Marshfield and back. I know I will need to go home after school in order to transfer my CDL back to Michigan.

    Bigdubber and technoroom Thank this.

I am here at school now. I am in my second week. You will like the school. You will be driving the truck on the first day on the schools trianing lot. By the third day you will be out driving on the local streets. They are long days and you will be physically and mentally drained at the end of each one.

Coming up on my 1 year anniversary this week, and that's one thing that sticks with me- those were some LONG a ss days. Don't stay up late and pack a good lunch for each day and don't eat crap food, Festival Foods is the grocery store right next to the hotel and has everything you need. Good luck you guys!

Protip- if you're coming in already knowing how to drive a stick, you might do well to leave everything you know at the gate. For a few of us it was like learning how to walk again :biggrin_2559:

Way to go Parachutes....thanks for the advice. any recommendations on daily clothing? I was thinking jeans, some thermals if it got real cold, ls tees and hoodie with jacket...obviously gloves. what is best? footwear? boots, shoes? I want to be comfortable and also not look out of place. I just don't see where khakis, loafers, and a collared shirt are gonna be good for learning a pretrip outside.

thanks Matti m80....congratulations on your one year mark. I feel great about my decision to go with Roehl...I see so many of the starter threads where the individual leaves prematurely and it's so widespread I tend to believe the conditions for these individuals are very poor. I can understand that some are just not gonna make it. I have seen that throughout life, theres always someone that can't keep up. However some of these companies like England and CRST get such horrid reviews I think that a lot of that info might be right on the mark.

I'm going to get trained, long days and tired at the end sounds like thats what they are doing at RDTC...looking forward to it!

If it gets cold. That is funny one. Today it was 2 degrees above zero when we started this morning. Looking at the extended forcast, expect it to be very cold with frequent snow showers and windy on some days. When you are in the truck, you will be plenty warm with just a sweat shirt. Wear warm socks and bring a good hat and gloves. Dont worry how you will look. Bring a coat that you wont mind getting a little dirty from climbing under the trailer.
Bring some laundry soap with you. I use the laundry mat next door to the hotel. The washers and dryers in the hotel dont work the best, so I go next door.
You will have a small fridge and microwave in your room to cook with.
There is a Wal-mart a little down the street if you forget anything in the clothing area also. On the other side of town there is a Mills Fleet Farm store also. They have a lot of cold weather gear also.
You will have be in school Monday thru Saturday. On the first week you will have homework when you come home for the evening also.

If you have any other questions, please ask.

    Dave
