I've done some research on USIS or DAC. I know that most of you already know much about it but I learned that DAC is nothing more than a consumer reporting agency. They are governed by the same laws as the 3 major credit bureaus. DAC is just like your credit report only for commercial drivers. It's as if someone thought up this company just to screw drivers even more.
So the steps are essentially the same in cleaning your report up. Also as far as I know, if they are governed by the same rules as the 3 credit bureaus then shouldn't their procedures be the same?
Also DAC is not there for the drivers whatsoever. They state on their website that they are there for the company. I suggest and encourage all drivers to obtain a free copy for their dac at least every 12 months and verify it. you are entitled to 1 free each year. If you get more than 1 it's like 10 or 12 dollars. But remember if you know the Fair Credit Reporting Act Rules then no carrier can screw you. I suggest every driver get a copy of their dac right after they leave a job and before they apply to another. Read up on the FCRA rules and regulations and you will know how to deal with DAC or USIS and the carrier that tried to screw you. It is unlawful for any entity to put something on your consumer report (dac) that they know is false. I know this doesn't stop them, but you also have rights and a course of retaliation. If enough drivers sued these companys that put whatever they want on drivers' DAC, then they'd think twice.
I hope this helps someone.

Remember to do your research first on the company that you are applying for before to accept the driving position. This way you can insure that your DAC will remain clean. -
Is it? Cool that is reassuring.
marathonman Thanks this. -
A friend of mine had a bad reference on DAC it said that he quit under dispatch and unauthroized use of company funds All of this was not true. He walked out half way through Orientation. (Company was a joke)
He went to work for another company and 3 years later he left there and that was when he found out the crap that was on the DAC. He wrote a letter to DAC telling them what happen it took 30 days and it was removed..
DAC only reports what is reported to them, You file a rebuttal and they file it with the employer the employer has 30 days to respond if they do not then it is removed.
Same way with criminal history make sure you look at this on the DAC if some one who lives in the same state with the same name their record can show up on you...same thing all you do is let DAC know this is not me. They inreturn contact the state and do a comparison on DOB SS# and what ever else. Since USIS replaced DAC services it has gotten alot better. Before DAC stood for Driver Abuse Center
Then again it is only as good as the person doing the reporting. Blame the EXemployer first. -
What if you file the rebuttal and the company tells DAC to leave whatever bad mark you have on there? Also, how do you file a rebuttal? I'm just wondering as I just found out last week I have a bad mark on my DAC and I'd like to get it cleared up

go to www.dacfix.com tell them what happened, pay them and see what happens

Not to push anyone out but you don't have to pay anyone to fix your USIS (it's no longer called DAC) report. The process to fix your report is the same as fixing your credit report.
1. Contact USIS and get a copy of your report. If you need the form PM me and I'll send it to you.
2. Gather your EVIDENCE showing proof that the company made an error.
3. Send the proof to USIS.
4. Just like any consumer report the company has 30 days to respond/fix.
5. If your information outweighs the company's evidence then USIS has no choice but to remove.
6. If not contact the proper federal authorities and report USIS and the company.
7. Hire an attorney and sue both the company and USIS.
Remember before you quit, or if you have an accident take pictures of your truck and everything else. If you quit and leave the truck at the terminal take pictures with a date stamp on the picture. I suggest keeping a digital camera or camera period that is YOURS with you for just such an occasion. And document everything and keep copies for yourself. This way the company can never screw you. USIS is bound by the same laws that Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion are. They are no different. Also read up on the Fair Credit Reporting Act. USIS is governed by that law. Remember knowlege is power. Educate youself so these companys cannot walk over you. -
Just an afterthought:
No person, whether trucker or janitor should live in fear of the company they work for or previously worked for. You should not be afraid that they are going to retaliate by messing up your USIS (DAC) report. You have rights that they cannot violate. If you keep your ducks lined up in a row and they try to screw you SUE THEM. If enough drivers went that extra mile then a lot of these companys will think twice before they submit something to USIS (DAC). If you remain unemployable due to a company putting an untruth on your USIS (DAC) Report. SUE them for the monetary damages. Strength is in numbers, whether individual or together. SUE!!! Make these companys think twice. Eventually DAC (USIS) will be a thing of the past because they'll stop using it if enough of you sue.
It's just like them not wanting to hire a driver with too many tickets or accidents. The liability is too great. -
I have a different problem with DAC. I am currently laid off and have applied for several driving jobs an have been turned down on 2 different (good driving$)jobs one company calmed the insurance company would not cover me ..I had thought that there was something on my report that was negative ...since I'd been only driving for 4 yrs on an off ...Any ways I sent and received my report ...the 1st page calms that they have NO employment records for my social secruity number .........NONE....... it also shows who had looked at my record and the criminal report all show nothing ..........So I was wondering is this a good thing that my previous (small time) employer's never submitted anything to DAC .....or does it hurt me because it shows that I don't have any experience driving ...I currently have a recently aquried hazmat endosement with no violations showing on my driving record for the past 8 yrs ......Do I need to file a record of my employment with USIS ...so that they can contact my previous employers and follow up from there........or leave it go
