I didn't mind at all getting paid by comcheck
3 or even 4 logs books was normal .. none of that stupid ELD BS
Now the truckstops are filled with steering wheel holders that can't read a Atlas or backup. And can't shift a transmission
Some don't speak english and wash their feet in the hand sinks
There was no reason to call home when the lot lizzards were around
There were nice trucks in the 80's I drove one it had a Cat motor & 2 shifters & a hood
45 .00 to unload & .17.. wasn't all that bad .. you could still buy a bottle of soda pop & a candy bar for about 1.05
I got shot at in the 80's a time or two .. for sleep'n with someone's wife .. might of been a teamster's
I'd much rather deal with the things you listed than the Special Kind of Stupid thats out here now

I was thrilled a few weeks ago I saw a truck camping in the left lane , of a three lane interstate .
Highway patrol car comes up behind him and he still doesn’t move over , trooper hits the lights and siren and after about two miles the trucker finally notices and moves over ,
Trooped follows him all the way over to the shoulder and stopped .

Then sadly , the trooper killed the lights and took off ,
I was hoping the driver would get a ticket for something .

I’ve often thought I was born in the wrong era. If we were to go back would we stay the same age as we are or the age we would’ve been?

You know what? In the end, it all really comes down to law enforcement. Some people will never be able to understand and others will never be able to care. So, if there isn't enough law enforcement then both groups will do whatever they want, right? Since that's always going to be true with some people, then we're always going to need enforcement of common sense and courtesy. Maybe the problem is that there isn't enough law enforcement, lately? I hate to see anyone get a ticket, except for those who really deserve it ...

I didn't follow your link. I have to disagree with you. Truck Drivers drive for their trade. They drive excellent because that is their profession. Even more important they do not want to hurt anyone else or themselves. Last but not least, unlike all four wheelers who can get ticket after ticket and can pay the fine , go to traffic school , or even have hearings with the DMV, doesn't happen for the truck driver. If a truck driver gets a ticket it is frowned upon big time. If he gets more than one or two he can be knocked out of the business. The law may say nothing and let him keep trucking, but an employer looking at this record and the line behind this driver ,and he will tell him "We will be in touch, NEXT" , and hire the next guy who is not a liability to him. Most people do not want to break the law, we need our LEO's for that smaller percent who just do not care or may even like breaking the law. The Truck Driver in general is doing his job giving Driving 100% of his attention, there are times I have no doubt if you drive many miles , your life has been saved by a Truck Driver. The Driver , is patient, very intuitive about what everyone else on the road is doing, and is able to "read" traffic , 4 wheelers have no effing idea of what anyone is actually doing when they do it. That is the reason most 4 wheelers are such a danger on the road. They have none of the skills or temperament that our Driving Heroes and Sheros have. Add to the fact that the majority of 4 wheelers are unaware , some like in all groups are misfits and like to make problems, but thankfully I think most if they were taught to drive proper around Big Rigs would. But they are not taught , so they are out there in full force, causing the most of anything bad that happens. There is no such thing as an accident. It is one or more people not giving driving 100% of their attention. Truck Drivers on the whole , give 100% of their attention to the job of Driving. The ones who do not , tragically we read about or see on the news. They are a minute fraction of the total.

Apologies for the rant, also I forget about operations of the truck, I speak of my own personal experience and observations.
