Can I use my bank statements instead of receipts for expenses paid from bank account?

If your referring to receipts for tax purposes the IRS will want to see the receipts, credit card statements or bank statements are not acceptable proof.

Im pretty sure when you do your taxes your bank statements show every purchase and exspense. My mentor uses his and has for 20 years.

I usually take a flat line item expense such as per Diem for the year etc.

Trying to keep reciepts themselves reveal that they fade out in sunlight in a few weeks time. Reciepts made in the store is not really made for archival record keeping. They fade out really fast for me.

If you can prove via your banking that you made a purchase for your trucking from a vendor go for it.

IRS had a requirement, any purchase $75.00 or more used as expense had to be legitimatized with a vender receipt.

I carry an envelope in truck to put receipts.
Lodging and food expenses you can use the basic daily tax deduction. Don't need those receipts.

All other expenses I have receipts for.
My bank statements don't describe what was paid for.

Example you buy oil for your car and big truck at the same store, separate transactions.
If I use card to pay. My account statement says..pos "store"...$xxx.00..
Depending on the point of view the auditor.
If the store is freightliner, they might accept it for a business expense.
If I bought it at Walmart, they might say that's a personal purchase...
We all know thermal printed receipts fade in direct sunlight.
Don't be careless with those tax documents.
Put them where the sun don't shine. Haha.

    Good luck.

Scan the receipts, dump in file and forget about it unless audited.

Some receipts need to be in the trip file for DOT purposes.
