Hello, I just recently got my CDL-A license and I also just turned 21. I have a clean driving record, got a TWIC card on the way, getting a background check for a hazmat endorsement and I can pass a drug test. Any OTR or local jobs I can get as a beginner in the southeast metro Detroit area??

Honestly fresh out of c school need to do like I did, talk to the starter companies, werner, schneider, tmc, PTL, etc I started at werner they did me right for 6 months then I got a better gig. Avoid swift, crst and England.

If you wanting to go over the road chase miles not % I think tmc for example pays by percent. You want pay per mile it will be more at end of the day.
Also look for 100% no touch freight and any percent under 100 of drop and hook be wary because detention sucks at times

You're only 21, that may complicate things a little bit, maybe. There are a lot of trucking companies just east of Metro Airport. Go on Google Maps to get the names and then just apply to all of them. Swift has a terminal on 275 not too far from there too, couldn't hurt to at least apply to them and see what they say.

I wouldn't look past Swift from what I've read on here from people who actually work for them.
Crst and England have bad reputations so it's probably best to avoid them.

    Good luck

Go down around Wyoming ave., and Michigan ave. Walk into every Company you see. Right attitude goes a long way. E.of Wyoming, S. of Michigan, w. of Central, N. of Vernor. Make sure your cars locked up good, before leaving it. Lol. Good Luck.
