I'm doing linehaul. I have a bid 3 trips one week and 2 the next. Yes we are spoiled got a new Volvo last February and its not a bad truck. I have heard the stories from the senior drivers about the good ole days. I guess when it was usf it was the best job period. Im completely satisfied with my job which is something I could never said a few years ago.

Well glad to know you are having a good experience with them. Yea all these companies seem to have been better in the olden days

It is a good company. No bid run for me but I'm making money and my benefits are paid for.

Well this week started out well. It was busy all extra board drivers called in on a Monday night which is rare. Were getting busy again and that's a good thing. So my run up to medford today was noneventful and that's how I like it. Just slow had a 21k in the front box and 18k in the rear box so very slow going but not bad in the new Volvo. I wake up happy everyday knowing where I'm going and when ill be home, so yea I love it.

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum. I've been OTR for quite some time now about 9 years. I'm looking to get into line haul. I noticed that Reddaway is hiring in my area (Los Angeles area). Can any of you Reddaway drivers tell me what it's like to work there? I hear it's a good place to work and then I hear it's slow or going out of business. I have a good dedicated run right now but gone all week and run teams. Making 1300 a week right now but I still need to make at least 1000 a week. Just sick of teams and want to be home more often.
How is it being on call? I understand I'd be on the extra board and at the bottom. I know this time of year is usually steady but come January will I be out of work? Do the guys on call usually get to work or would it be 1 or 2 trips a week? I really don't know anything about the company or how they operate. Thanks in advance. -

I don't know if any one else will chime in with a different answer but here's mine. If you need to make 1000 per week then you best stay where you are. I can't speak for other Reddaway yards but mine will have you sitting by the phone. Some weeks I get work and others I don't. I don't come close to averaging 1000 per week. Benefits are paid by the company for the entire family which is good but I'd still prefer steady work and higher pay since my wife has good cheap insurance. You really need to have a bid run to make money here. Doesn't look like I'll be getting that anytime soon. Takes a while to get one. Yes Reddaway is hiring, but I think it's because drivers are quitting, not because they have more freight.
By the way, 1300 a week is good money for a dedicated run home every week. I'd gladly switch you jobs lol. -
