Please tell me what exactly is the difference between a Van and a Reefer. I was just looking at pictures under the description and they appear to be one in the same???
When I think Van --- I think Van. Not what they were showing.
Any clarification would help as I am searching the load boards for a friend of mine.
Reefer or Van?

A reefer is a temperature controlled van used to haul mostly food products that need to be either refridgerated or frozen.
A van is just the regular enclosed trailer with no temperature controls.

A van is a dry box and a reefer is insulated and has a refrigeration unit on the front that can either cool or heat the product being transported. They look similar expect when you look at them from the front and a van is not a really a van like a freightliner sprinter or a Pontiac Montana, at least not in the truckers vocabulary

Thank you very much for responding so quickly.
So - then. If there is no difference than refrigeration, if you have a reefer and there is a load posted for a 48' van can you take it? -
Yes you can but you need to check the weight of the load as you may overgross as an empty reefer is heavier as than an empty dry van -
Thank you again for your quick reply.
I can't find the link to the terms of service so I am not sure if this question is allowed, but I am going to ask it anyway-
Thoughts on which load board is the best? -
Really cant help there but might want to give a little more information on what your trying to do. If your talking from an O/Os stand point or someother type of opertation -
O/O standpoint.
Just trying to keep some good ole' boys around here on the road. -
Really cant help you on the load boards since I dont use one but if they dont mind running all 48 states they might want to check into landstar as I hear they have alot of freight and they drivers can choose the loads. But again I dont personally use a load board so I dont have much information on them.
From my understanding you have to actually apply and register with Landstar but again I dont know alot about them except the few things I have read on the forum -
Thank you for your input. It is greatly appreciated.
