I don't know if I'd qualify them as BAD as just a little unprofessional.

The girl that worked the driver reception desk decided to take a break, right at the same time a dozen or so drivers show up for their appointments in the morning. Well, we can barely find places to park, we are sitting in each others lap in the reception area and she decides to go take a break. There was one small bench and then it was standing room only in that room. We had to wait like 25 minutes for her to return. Meanwhile trucks are stacking up outside with not much place to park.

I just thought it was a bad time to decide to take your break. About 3 hours later there were no trucks waiting to unload and it would have been a much better time to take a break. I've never seen a driver reception person just leave when there were a dozen drivers standing at the door waiting to be unloaded.

Ive never worked at a service based job where you could just walk out leaving your paying customers sitting. No, I would have been looking for another job real quick.

Yes, but she was holding up a dozen trucks. She has no right to do that. There were drivers calling their dispatchers. She came back not long after those phone calls were made. Her job is to get drivers in and out. If she wants a break fine, let someone relieve her for that period. But don't schedule delivery appointments and then leave. I've seen many places where the "normal" person was at lunch, but the window was occupied by someone. Not just a sign that said "on break, be back later." WTF?

If I show up for my delivery appointment on time, I expect to at LEAST be checked in. Not killing myself to make a delivery appointment only to stand in a packed room at a closed window. I've NEVER been on time for a delivery appointment and NOT been checked in. Surely not always backed into a dock, but at least checked in and put on the list. That's fine. Then I'll go crash in the bunk until it's my turn. But a closed window at my appointment time? Uh no.

You should know time is money. Shes getting paid just to show up for work. Truck drivers aren't so lucky.

Not changed much then. Haven't been there in months now.

Their breaks are pretty much set as to times, back in the warehouse and coolers, too.

Seems like it's about 10am, but that may be off a little.

I do the drivers window at my job from time to time. I have to take my lunch break at the same time everyday, no matter what, cause I am on medicine that requires me to do so.

Ok good. Well then do one or both of the following:

    1. Don't schedule arrivals during your lunch break.
    2. Have someone work the window while you're away from the window.

You only have to do one of those.
