Hello,
On some posts people say the 26 FT U-Haul truck works for the road test but other posts say it doesn't work. Does anyone know the correct answer?
Says D class truck has to be gross weight of more than 11,000 kg (24,000) lbs
U-Haul truck is 25,999 lb gross weight.... says under 25,999 lb gross weight on the truck door

Wouldn't it have to have air brakes?
-
Yes, it would need air brakes, and need to be registered for the extra weight. Also, if it required a license that you do not have, they would not rent it to you (spoiler alert: EVERY truck U-Haul has can be driven with just a regular car license). Furthermore, truck rental companies don't rent trucks out for road tests....
Sorry, Charlie; this was a hare-brained idea.Peplow Thanks this. -
Never seen a Uhaul truck with air brakes on it yet.
-
It doesn't need to have airbrakes because I'm only doing the D class test... not DZ test the Z part only requires air brakes
-
Seems like uHaul works because the registered gross weight is 25,999 lbs -
What do you plan on driving that doesn't have air brakes?

I already have a Z license...
-
The truck will still need it for the pre trip part of the road test?

Call up a Drive Test centre and ask them.
