Sure it is, especially if you got in on the $49.99 Pre-order.........its all over now, but that is what I payed for my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium from Amazon.com.:biggrin_25525:

I may have to get that, some programs just don't seem to run right with 64-bit XP....

WinXP 64-bit was Microsofts 1st attempt at a 64-bit OS.........at 1st it was a disaster compatibility wise, but after numerous updates and fixes has gotten better. It is still nowhere near as good as Vista 64-bit. Vista 64-bit is the 1st true 64-bit OS, and Windows 7 64-bit will immprove upon that even more. Im really looking forward to Win7, Vista seems still to be a Ford Mustang with a 4 banger under the hood.

Now I am in NO way a computer techy-type...I call my youngest son whenever anything goes awry..he told me not to bother with the "7" upgrade (I have vista now) since the "7" is just an upgrade OF Vista....

From the mouths of babes maybe(((

Windows 7 will be a improvement over Vista, but does that mean you have to rush out and upgrade, the answer is no. Vista and even XP are both good operating systems that are more then capable of getting the job done. Unless you get some kind of discount like I did, I see no necessity to rush to upgrade to Win7 though, especially if you already have Vista.

I will be upgrading one machine to "7" right away because I have to be able to do tech support on it for the drivers who will soon be using it on their laptops out there, and to test compatibity with these various trucking GPS and Log software programs. Same as when Vista came out. So now I'll have 3 laptops on my desk :biggrin_255:

i have been running the IT 90 day version of windows 7 enterprise for close to two months and have to say it is 1000 % better then vista ever was. takes less resources to run then XP and is much faster then any of the windows OS's so far
