ive been driving trucks for thirty years (straight trucks). everything from logging, black top dumps, road strippers, highway plows, carpet delivery, furniture, and now ive stepped up to semis, 53' vans, p&d mostly no over the road for the last two years. ive worked for chrysler for 11 years while holding down part time driving jobs. i have money put away and would like to have my own truck. what id like to know is it better to be an oo with the co im working for now(central freight) or try to strike it out on my own.

You need to find out how Central pays their O/O's.....Percentage or Mileage.... Also, check into how they pay accessorials....such as Fuel Surcharge, Detention, Layover, etc. Find out about empty miles. I prefer to work for Percentage.....we get 72% of the GROSS revenue....and 100% of any Fuel Surcharge....We also have a GUARANTEED minimum FSC. It changes week to week depending on fleet fuel prices. We get Stop Pay....Unloading Pay.....etc. The better companies will pay you for what you do.

It's easy to go broke if you don't ask the right questions from the get go.
