Yes, thanks for bringing this up. There are some trucking companies that hire felons. Good for them, I'm glad they do hire felons. Getting a job and staying busy may be the best thing for someone trying to stay out of trouble, besides turning their life over to Jesus. But, only SOME trucking companies hire felons. And with economy not being red hot, getting out of CDL school and not being hirable at most trucking companies is a real hurdle. The schools get that sweet, sweet govt money for training the felons without regard to if they can get jobs or not. LOTS of people just now starting to think about trucking as a job, mistakenly believe the school wouldn't let me in if the school didn't think there would be a job waiting for me at the end of school. That may be correct for some schools, but not every school. Plenty of trade schools will accept a bland man confined to a bed as a student just to get the tuition money. It is better to find the job that will hire you once oyu get the CDL before making a decision about CDL school. I'm overly-cautious, that's how I see things. Some people have good experience with a 'let's see what happens' approach to life. It takes all kinds to make the world run.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Not to mention the fact that if they are on probation or parole they have to have permission every time they leave the state.
