just got accepted by a local company to drive for them. This is my first job as a CDL a driver and I have 0 experience other than trucking school. They said I have to do a road test @ orientation. Is this standard for most companies? If so, what does it consist of?
Is a road test standard when hiring on at a new comany?

Yes it's standard. Just don't hit anything and stop for the red lights and you will be fine.

And don’t grab phone and going to answering calls, or texting if it rings.

And don't show up hungover smelling like a rotten brewery or drink a gallon of coffee before you get there. You want to be calm cool and feeling good.

I had to do a driving test for my part time job it was a piece of cake. There main concern was that I could shift the truck and make somewhat of a tight turn with the truck and trailer. Apparently they had a number of people apply that could not shift a manual transmission.

What type trucking company are you going with?
Boondock Thanks this. -
They're NOT wanting to make you nervous, you'll do that on your own, it's normal.
Every New Driver has to do a Road Test during orientation which means you'll not be alone in the Truck on a specified route (from what my 63 year young mind can recall), and should be much easier with an Auto Shift Truck, compared to a Manual.
They want to see what you're capable of doing as not every applicant at every Company Orientation is accepted.
Usually Drug Test Results eliminate some contestants.

Remember to Eat and Hydrate, which will help lose some jitters.
CHEERS!! -
Expect a road test anytime you apply/start at a different company, no matter how much experience you have. They generally are just looking for safe driving habits and adequate backing skills.
