I wasn’t sure which of the southeast highways were decent truck roads from cedar city to i40. Looks like my map showed me exiting i15 and going through hurricane then on to us 89 In Arizona and down to flagstaff

If im not mistaken 491 is now what they call old route 666. Take that route, it will give her a cool story to tell her friends next month when school starts back up. With any luck you will see plenty of rattle snakes on the road.

If you do go that way and stop for pictures, make sure you look before getting out of the truck, you don't want to get bit by a rattler 150 miles from the closest hospital.

Us 24 and 160 in Colorado are both better for the scenic views in my opinion.

A word about St Georges. If I remember right, SW of there towards AZ is what I recall as the Virgin River country. I think the road builders started wrestling dragons trying to build that road through. In winter St Georges with my unlucky habit, has presented me with a proper winter storm in my face before I get to it and through there. 6 inches becomes a foot, then two feet and getting worse barefoot. Ive been known to burn 4 packs of smokes and a whole pot of coffee in that short trip for that reason.

I believe we are going to try US 89A between cedar City and Flagstaff. Hoping that 300 miles of road is decent enough truck road. That’s enough back road for me lol

Run that way all the time. Good road. Very scenic. This time of year you will have RV types out on it.

264 from Tuba City over towards Gallup is a nice drive, especially if you’re light. Way more to look at than running 40 east out of Flagstaff.

I loaded light in Cedar City one time. Took hwy 14 to us 89 to Flag. Wasn't bad. I'd do it again.

You'll Enjoy I40 from Nashville, Tn. on to Charlotte. It's not jaw dropping like I70 through western Colorado but it's close. Many easterners (who don't know better) say it's the prettiest interstate in the country. They should get out more :D
