I have heard from 2 different drivers, 1 dry side and 1 refrigerated, at 2 different locations that Knight is going to "paperless" logs after the 1st of the year!
A conversation with my safety person confirmed that management is most definetly discussing the idea. In fact, she went on to tell me that drivers based in either Salt Lake City or Idaho Falls are ALREADY using electronic logs and testing the viability of the new system. She did not know the status of the testing, nor would she confirm or deny the rumors of the E logs going company wide.
We are so screwed here at Knight!
Do any other Knight drivers have info about this?

I do all that I can to stay away from terminals, esp. Phoenix!
Someone stick a fork in me, I do believe I'm done here!

HA HA adjust your thinking fellow driver. WE ARE NOT SCREWED. Knight is screwed. I'll explain. I awoke today at 0400, delivered at 0500, was empty at 0600. Then I sat for three hours until receiving my next work assignment. Kinda of puts a damper on my 14 hour limit doesn't it ? Knight, along with everybody else is going to have to find a way to streamline the process if they want to continue turning a profit now aren't they.

You and I are not screwed. We can simply go find someone who does know how to utilize their resources. I do hope Knight figures it out (feel free to pick apart that statement if you wish, I laughed a little too) but believe you me, there are companies that have had this mastered for quite sometime.

Basically if you are losing money, who cares. But whoa nelly if the company is losing money you better believe some changes will be coming. If you are are an efficient driver that knows how to manage your time then you've already done your part.

I dunno, Dna. From what I saw when I was with Knight, they would go out of their way to lose money. I don't think their right hand will EVER figure out what their left hand is doing...:biggrin_25513:

Paperless logs at Knight, should be interesting...:biggrin_2559:

Where Knight has several thousand drivers working for them, I ONLY HAVE 1!
They can afford to lose ALOT more money than I can.
I can only do so much with regards to effiency. I still have to stop 2-3 times a day to recycle the soda pop.

I also heard that Knight is cutting back the speed of the trucks too! 60 on the cruise and 62 on the pedal.
If I am not mistaken, that is just like Swift. Imagine that, what an unusual coincidence, huh???

I see exactly what you are saying. But when I say efficient I meant on the whole grand scheme of things. Running hard and doing the best with what you got. Now the lease drivers.....who are locked into this mess under contract, well I would not be sleeping easy. I hate unions, I feel I have to say that before saying, we don't need them, they need us. Simple as that.

    Talking about pee stops ............

That's funny (and true) I don't care who you are !!!!!!!

Was told that yes we will be paperless.

The speed is also true if you idle at all.

All o/o will also go paperless.

As soon as this happens, I'm cutting back where I will go, and how many days I'll work.

Eventually e-logs in one form or another will be requried for all trucks. I can see problems at first since everyone (companies and Drivers) will need tolearn to be more efficent. Will some Divers lose their job yes, but mostly those who run 2 log books and the like. Will some companies go out of Business yes. This will be due not using their driver efficently. Shippers and Recievers will scream bloody murder when trucks are unable to move because they took to long to load or unload.
