Where I'm at now we have to have vests on every second we're out of the truck. I personally do not like wearing the vest, so I have some cheap safety orange/yellow striped shirts that are compfy and quite tough as it seems..

When I was on the HWY if I had to stop on the hwy for whatever reason I would always face traffic or not try and be on that side of the truck if I didn't NEED to be there.

I drove tow trucks when I first got into trucking and it's AMAZING how close people get to you when you're pulling something out of a ditch or flipping something back over onto it's wheels..it's scary!

It's amazing how many drivers I see on the cell phones in the truck stop. STOP AND TEXT and take care of your business, not while you're rolling through the parking lot! Someone could back into you or swish around the corner and your attention is partly on your cell phone. I called one guy out on the CB and he comes back all defensive that he is in 1st gear(liar, 4th gear) and was doing voice to text. He proceeded to try to taunt me and refused to understand what the word perception means.

I cannot relate to the "it looks dorky" , or "you look like a schmuck" wearing one, I am comfortable with my level of self esteem.

Also, wearing a safety vest does not diminish my awareness or wariness, whatever the task.

    Poor excuses IMO.

If I am on the side of the road putting chains on or fixing a truck I am wearing one. Don't care how awesome I look in the process. Even got one that says Carlie on it from way up north because they told me I had to have one on when I walked through their yard.
