Salt Lake City tips for parking a truck there?

It’s been 15 years or so since I have been there but when I ran team we used to fuel and shower at the Sapp Brothers every week on a regular run to Salt Lake. It wasn’t too far from the Airport. It was clean then and easy in and out.

 

Hardly any parking within the city. Unless you like to stealth park in warehouse districts then its great for that and generally pretty safe neighborhoods. What part of the city are u in or near? I got a handful of hidey holes around the city... Theres also some truckstops out in tooele that are usually good for a spot but its been years since ive been to either one.
If you want to take a 34 north of the city and get up to brigham city, theres a loves there that has a hotel next door if its more comfortable than being in the truck for a 34. But me personally i hate loves with a passion. Sapp bros like banker mentioned, no idea what condition its in tho.

 

Theres a Loves, Sapp Brothers and Flying J, Loves being the closest, all 3 kind of in the area. Parking is probably tough, Good Luck.

 

Sapp Brothers is always full because locals use it for truck parking. If you cruise around the small parking lot over and over and over you might catch someone pulling out of a parking spot.

Flying J at 2025 S. 900 W has more parking, but not a lot. It's NE of the I-15 & I-80
And there are millions of warehouses within 2 miles south of this Flying J where you can park either on the street or in some random drop yard for the warehouse.

I have a secret spot we used for taking a 34 that uses Swift's drop yard in West Valley, UT. There is a convenience store nearby and grocery store, Target, Walmart, IHOP. There is a mechanic shop inside the Swift yard and there is a gate entrance beside the Swift entrance that allows you entry without talking to Swift guards. You exit through the main Swift gate, but they don't check you, just maybe record your name and company. I'll DM you with my phone number and email if you need to use it. I was last there 3 years ago, so I don't know what has changed. The worst that can happen is they toss you out of the yard. I don't know of where there are any bathrooms inside the Swift yard, although there must be some somewhere. I just used the yard for parking. I left that yard for food, bathrooms, shopping.

There are several Maverik convenience stores in the area with some truck parking but usually only a maximum of 1 parking space is empty since locals use it to park their trucks. I'll put the pin location in the DM I send you.

 

Yeah Brigham City Loves is excellent. You can also bobtail East from there to a nearby Smith's grocery store and there is/was a laundromat within 2 miles of the grocery store and bobtail/truck parking across the street.

 

It was wide open when we were going there. Enough space every week to park a set of doubles in a pull through spot. Times change a lot in 15 years though.

The main north-south road that runs from Walmart above and southward to England Ct with the Swift yard is Hwy 172. If you are bobtail that road has everything you might want during a 34 reset. All sorts of fast-food, Walmart, Target, grocery store WinCo (no credit cards, just cash or debit cards), and a landromat (Speedy Queen). I took many 34s there. If you can't get into the Swift yard via the secret entrance, or they kick you out, go north on Hwy 172 from Swift yard and there are dozens of warehouses on your right hand side. Lots of street parking and most warehouse yards are open and you can park there.

 

Yeah, I got 1 or 2 spots in 1 year (2020-2021). I stopped even checking to see if it had spaces. The Flying J north of Sapp and south of the SLC airport was a better bet, but much more run down than Sapp Bros.

 

Brigam city loves is bigger but you have to look in the middle of the day. There's also rest areas and weigh station near there.
