I avoid them based on what trucker path says but if they are either both open or both closed I will take 280 so I don't have to do that tight loop if you follow 80 instead :/

Why take the extra risk of at the very least wasting your time having an inspection done on your perfect equipment and driver? I don't want to spend any more time than necessary out here.
adayrider, nax and whoopNride Thank this. -
What ended up happening is this. On my way out of Illinois, despite weighing something like 60k lbs, I was pulled into a scale. I stopped on it and waited and finally I was given a green light. Left unscathed. Could have been a lot worse than that, since right turn signal did not work on my trailer today.
During all my life, despite never engaging in any major wrongdoing, I could never achieve 100% legal compliance and I hate all audits, inspections, and such.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
I don't know if guys still do it,but in the old days,we used to run around those scales all the time, very easily. Going east out of Iowa,I-74 to John Deere Rd.(Rt. 5) to I-80. Reverse going west.
7-UP, nax, Tug Toy and 1 other person Thank this. -
