The main reason is scania won't offer their product with other people's components in them, they have s reputation of quality and won't leave that in the hands if other manufacturers! Besides they have far bigger markets in the likes if brazil where They sell 66% of all trucks sold there, even more amazing considering they only sell trucks above 17 tonnes, they wouldn't survive in America unless they sold other people's components in their trucks plus the fact all their parts are metric

They did before but cos they wouldnt give in to us pressure and give other components in their trucks they were doomed in the us although the dramliner mack v8 was a scania dsc14 which Alot of Americans consider a legend ! Funny when the same people will say scania are crap

sorry didn't have time to read all the earlier posts but how did they get to the 16.4 mark ? was it buy stretching out the stroke or is it bore size? also i'm sure there are not only good trucks but also good parts of thoughs trucks in the eu and else where , but has eneyone thought that trucks here in the U.S.A.. are made and speced the way they are because of the app they are intended for . not all but alot of roads here have higher speeds and longer open stretchs, or maybe i'm wrong . i'm sure some eu trucks would out do U.S.A trucks in the right places but not in all apps. as far as cheap parts being put into cheap trucks , when an o/o is willing to lay down 135,000 to 180,000 grand to get what he wants i'm sure 20,000 more to get the best parts is not to much ! just my 2 cents

Hmm ok! Im nOt entirely sure but I would imagine since they have a modular policy ( ie: a piston out a 16 litre fits an & litre , most parts are interchangeable ) so its could be stroke lenght although i think it could be a different block! Here it's absolutely how you spec them, for example : no two scanias are exactly the same, they are built exactly to your order, even order two the same and u will find differences ! A lovely feeling your truck was built for you

I also disagree , trucks there seem to be sold on a one size fits all policy, eg: Alot of tractors there are 6*4, this would be unaccectable here! If it were a 6 wheeler it would be 6*2 centre lift/steer or better still rear lift/steer which is even better in snow and ice than a 6*4 with less weight and less likely to understeer and a #### sight more fuel efficient with scania boasting 11 mpg at 44 tonnes or 97000 lbs on a v8 730 hp. Truck at 3500 nm of torque,

It would be nice to see them on the us, even in Mexican fleets like you said
