Schneider and Swift must be hiring illiterate drivers.

Not sure if this is the right spot to post, but had to share this one...

Bopping up I 5 in Oregon this morning and go through the scale preclearance and get a red light on my transponder.
Approach scale house and sign says closed so power back up and keep rolling.

I watched a Schneider truck pull into the scales followed by a Swift driver who drove right up to the scales when they realized there was no one there.

Now Oregon has a bad habit of leaving their transponder to go red even when the scales are closed, so I am always half ready to pull in or blow by when I see the sign.

I was laughing so hard, I almost peed myself.

I guess they would believe the transponder over their eyes.

If that's the worst thing you see Swift or Schneider do then it's a good day.

They are probably new and scared to get a ticket so they chose to go into scale big deal

Better to pull in than straight up bypass the scale. Maybe you should watch the road instead of Swift and Schneider pulling into a scale that you already passed.

And what makes you think I wasn't watching the road? A good driver is constantly scanning their mirrors as well...

Section 192.7 of the Swift Driver Handbook
"If you approach a closed weigh station, pull in, park on the scale, and wait for them to open.
If there is a locked gate blocking the entrance, use the ditch to go around it."
Swift has decided it's safer to have their trucks parked as opposed to moving anywhere.

Yep. I've done the same and think "better safe than sorry". For the OP...I look forward to the thread complaining about DOT pulling you over for bypassing the scale.

I think you'll be waiting a long time for hand. Sign says closed, I keep moving. If they do stop me I will be happy to show them the dash cam picture saying closed.

MachoCyclone and Rusty Trawler Thank this.
