    Hey guys ,

anybody from Cali who’s on the ic choice ? Wanted to know how’s the freights looking in the area ... I’m based in Bakersfield....

Does Schneider allows ic’s in CA ?

I saw a few thread about it, but no one seemed to really knew and all threads are from 2 , 3 years ago....

I used to work for Watkins and Shepard and we were sharing the Fontana terminal with Schneider but I can’t remember ever seeing a owner op there it was all company drivers ...

Fontana is gone. ICs are still allowed in CA, but many choose not to go there. I live in SC, but have family in SoCal. I’d park in Phoenix and rent a car to Cali when I’d visit.

I was an IC for three years, but left the industry Jan 18th.

    Good luck!

All the IC choice guys I talk to run the Midwest.
I ask them why and they comment the rates are better.
I'm a company stiff and I like running the southwest..need some scenery in my life...good luck!:occasion5:

I wonder did they do their homework and put 2 and 2 together when reading freightwipper s thread, and figured out that s where the money is?

    Thanks Packard,
But wow, why such a struggle to get to Cali ? Is the rate that bad ?

Sorry to hear that you quit trucking. How was your overall experience during those 3 years though ?

If you want to go home save $10k and get a monthly truck payment with conventional financing.
Weekly payments pretty much guaranteed you'll never be home.
Danny Herman has a power only deal..I see Fontana on a regular basis..

Rates were pretty poor, yeah. But when they closed Fontana, I didn’t have a place I’d feel safe leaving my truck for a week. My three years were decent...I accomplished what I needed to. My truck stayed out of the shop, and I took pretty generous time off.

I drove for 20 years total, and I had just had enough. Our house is paid for and my wife has a decent job. I’ve got a home-based deal I’m launching.

I was not expecting be home every week , more like twice a month during reset . I’m looking into IC cause I like their “click a button “ to get your load, Way better than deal with dispatch or brokers in my opinion
