Hello everyone! Just a little background info on me: I'm retired, though not from trucking but after semi retiring in 2002,i decided to get my cdl but only drove otr for 6 mos and that was a dozen years ago. So recently i passed my D.O.T. physical and renewed my class a cdl with all the endorsements; only had to retake the Hazmat test with no problem in passing it. Never had a DUI or been arrested plus have a clean driving record.
Any way,i fully retired in 2005 and am financially comfortable so any net pay i earned trucking with Schneider would be all gravy and go into the bank as discretionary funds.
After reading on theses forums and watching YouTube videos about different companies,Schneider's looking like a good starter company for me; what do you guys think? Any and all info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! And make it a great day for yourself!
Schneider National---Seriously Considering Van Driving then possibly a lease purchase.

My experience with Schneider dates back to 2003 when I left for another company. So take this with a grain of salt.
I thought Schneider was a great newbie experience. They taught me safety and tolerated my stupid baby Schneider mistakes. They are a little rah rah about Schneider family esprit de corps yada yada but it was ok. They did a lot of nice things extra on driver appreciation besides just hot dogs and a free pen as do some companies.
Downside for me was the more I made per mile due to seniority the fewer miles I got. That was a pisser. Also no pet policy. Still it was a really good experience for me.luv2fly352 Thanks this. -
Thanks so much for your response and insight. I appreciate it!

For getting back in the driver's seat, Schneider is a good choice. The current situation for the l/p deal is "stay in the midwest and don't have other bills to pay". If you can't do that I would recommend buying your own truck somewhere else rather than leasing one from sfi, the weekly bill is almost 2 grand (truck payment, mandatory maintenance, insurance, etc) before fuel. That said, it's pretty easy to make 4 grand gross a week if you want and people do succeed with families, house payments, etc.

Most guys report truck payment between 700 and 800, with plates, insurance, etc totaling out to 11-1200. Your 1200 quote was all in.

No. $1200 truck, plates, maintenance, before insurance. I find it funny that you think you're going to tell me what I was quoted.
