Am considering tankers with Schneider out of Pa. Woundering how many miles other drivers are getting in tanker division please? Recruiter says 2000-2500 per week. Sound close? Would like to see more really.
Does dry van see alot more miles generally?
Tanker paying 32cpm dry van 28cpm.

What is stearing me in this direction, is the Flex time off deal. ( you pick 6 days off per month)

Been out of Keasbey NJ for two months. I never keep track of miles. Where you make your money here is short haul pay. Less than 100 miles you get $70. If you do a unload less than 100 miles it's $110. Get 2 of them a day and you doing OK.
Last week I hit over 2000 for the first time. But I prefer the short hauls. Lots of bulk moving out of keasbey.
I have had every saturday off. I put in 2 months of days off and only got approved for 3 days. You'll get days off but you wont know when.
My average take home is $500-$650.
Anyother questions I will be happy to answer.
By the way, next friday is my last day there.
I said somewhere in some post or reply: As being new into "driving" a truck ( or will be when I make up my mind ), Im so glad I found this "site"/Forum.
So one thing your saying, SNI's "flex-time-0ff" program is bunk..... I mean, I know enough that its hard to really give you, the driver, full control of days off, but they sure make it sound like a good program. But when you read the fine print, it does say, pick 6 "preferred days off". So I guess that really means, sure, thats your preferrence, but thats not what your gonna get!!!
I have to start telling myself: I have to start somewhere to get better gigs and pay..
Just sucks to feel like your just bein used, cuz there is 1000 guys in line to take your place.

I'm an owner operator and pull tankers but not for Schneider.
If you are going to be paid by the mile you would be better off pulling vans.
I go out for 4-6 wks at a time and home for 4-7 days but only average 8100 miles per month over the year. It's just the nature of the business. Most loads go 400-600 miles and after unloading you get your tank cleaned and don't reload until the next day
so you're only really driving every other day. This doesn't mean that you are not using up your hours though as it can take a very long time to get unloaded at some plants and good detention pay rates are very important. You will spend a lot of your time off sitting in dirty tank wash parking lots far away from truck stops and a fridge and microwave are good to have in the truck.
I have spoke with recruiter several times but havent filed an app yet becuse not sure what i want to do yet dry van or tanker. But you have to live within hiring area and apply for jobs online. Weighing pros and cons of each is really diffacult. Dont seem like there is much money to be made in either so im really bummed right now with what im learning here. Schneider seems to be good company just no pay. But as everyone says "gota start somewhere.
