You don' pump water in a pipe from the Midwest to LA. You pump through a series of pipes from one reservoir to another reservoir gradually gaining elevation.

You really trying to compare 156 miles of canals with 1000+ miles need to be build to pump water from south/Midwest to Arizona/California?

 

You have to keep an open mind.
You have to look at it from an ENGINEERING STANDPOINT..
Topography also plays a role as going west/southwest/northwest of Chicago land elevation increases.
Mind you all of this was done in the 19th century-engineers didn’t have the technology or tools that we have today.

 

The simple answer is that the earth is over populated.
I would hazard a guess that we have 2 billion more people than the earth can handle

 

If you build it, ............................... too #### many people will show up to see it.

 

Just turn Arizona into a reservoir... there's nothing useful there anyhow.
