Scored A Nice Turner SSK Desk Mic On Ebay

By the way, I have sitting on the shelf behind me a +3 and a +2 SSB, I think the +2 sounds better for SSB, not AM.

 

Wow you got a great buy on that mic. I bought my SSK back in 76, it wasn’t cheap. I think I paid around $70 for it. I love the mellow sound these mics have. I agree with ridge that they maybe a little bassy. I still have my SSK. I won’t ever sell it. I’ve thought about replacing the caps, but decided not to since it still sounds great. I know a lot of guys love the +3’s, but I liked the black and chrome look. It really looked great with my president Madison base station. I really regret selling that radio.

 

Ridge, if u ever happen to come across your notes on how you modded your mic, and care to share, that would be great. If not, that’s okay, these are great sounding mics either way. Thanks.

 

My M+2 is a great SSB mic, definitely not so much AM.
