Screw Truck Parking Club

I started seeing this in Ontario, Canada and expanded to Quebec and the rest of other provinces. Now it seems be in Michigan, Ohio and I seen in NY a couple years back in Buffalo, NY when I was searching for a Truck Stop near Wallen Galleria Mall and found a Truck Plaza (I don't want to put the name on blast) but one of truckers told me that some spots are paid spots on a weekly basis. I can't confirm that but it doea happen. Ottawa, ON. has a bunch of them like that. I guess somsone capitalized with this app now. Truck stops (from what I've seen in Major cities) treat it like a business and rent out truck spot when theyre limited truck parking.

 

I like being a member of a club! Sounds exclusive

 

There is one of those place by my home that charges $25 a day, would use them for home time but I am too cheap for that much money.

 

I've only used it once when my company sent me to the Cocoa, FL Walmart DC. No chance of any parking at the Flying J and I needed to lay for 2 days. It wasn't a fantastic spot. Basically a gravel parking lot, but better than nothing.

 

$80 more at the minimum.

 

I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.

I can understand the push against paid parking, I can also see the other side of it. How many drivers just park and don’t spend a dime at the business? How many park for free and use only the facilities? Even parking and only throwing away garbage requires an employee to handle the garbage.

 

Several went to charging for parking back last summer, regardless of eating at restaurant or buying diesel, had to pay with that app. I quit fueling, and eating and parking there…
Fast forward about 6 months, they’ve lost a ton of business and taken signs down… I go by there 1-2 times a week now just stop at the TA express 20 miles away.
