Whether you have to bring a truck in for routine maintenance or have a breakdown, you may not want--or be able--to take all of your stuff with you. How do those of you who have been doing this a while secure stuff so it doesn't walk away?

One of my instructors mentioned a small safe like what you'd use for a pistol to bolt under the bottom bunk but I was wondering if some of you have metal lock boxes that you put in that part so you can just lock it if needed?

Photo/video everything with a time stamp, if possible. Or bring it with you. Most places won't take anything though. It's pretty rare for a mechanic to steal anything from a truck, but it does happen. Happened to me at a company terminal once.

Best thing to do is don't bring anything of value that you can't carry with you while trk is in shop. When you leave the trk for say an hr to eat and take a shower.Put your valued items out of site and lock your doors.'ve never had anything stolen.

I used to think people were stealing all my stuff all the time. Then I would find it later. Boy was I pissed by all those thieves for stealing it and then putting it back later to mess with me like that.

Never have had anything stolen. Can it happen. Yea I suppose. Hell I rarely lock the truck doors when leaving it to go inside the truck stop. Over the weekend yea I lock it. Sleeping yea I lock it. Most times? Naw. I use banks so it very rare to have anything like money laying around, don't ware expensive jewelry, important papers are at home. So if I bought a safe it would be empty. The again a empty safe is a good distraction away from your money laid up under your clothes. LOL Its a good idea but its one that most have no practical use for.
