That's right. A security guard that thinks he's something more than he is can cause more problems than he is paid to prevent, and it causes liability.

That's not to say they shouldn't do their job, but it's obvious when you just got a guy trying to do job and he doesn't mean wrong intent, so just leave him alone. All it's going to do is create more work.

Just go back to your desk, write it in your log, and go back to studying about plumbing. If the building catches fire, call the fire department.

If your employer wanted you to do more than that, they would hire an off duty police officer with the right amount of training to deal with those situations and they would pay him more. As a 10 dollar an hour security officer, you write what you see and if there is an emergency, you make a phone call. If you try to do more than that, you become a liability.

That's just my opinion.

sheesh, i got paid minimum wage back then, and that was like $3.25 per hour!!!
