Oh its going to #### up it's a tool or driving Aid like lane assist that keeps you from drifting into another lane but I still would like to have it after a few years and the bugs get worked out it will make your day less stressful but that's all it wont take over the drivers job so no cell phone movies magazines or anything thing else

It's driving aid, a way too advanced driving aid for the average idiot in my opinion. If you still have to sit there and be prepared to take over all day long, what's the point?

In heavy traffic you will be able to read traffic signs better check straps or chains look at your gauges it is just a tool same as a gps over a paper map

When they can successfully fully automate the simplest of our transportation systems (rail, and I don’t mean the odd airport shuttle, I mean our full rail system), I might start to worry about self driving trucks.

Sure you can find automated rail systems here and there but automating rail should be child’s play compared to automating aircraft, let alone automotive and they haven’t been able to do that on a wide scale as of yet.

I wonder what chefboyardee is going to say when that self driving food truck comes around at 2 am and gives a beep beep, to tell him hey go ahead and unload your boxes. Don't forget a few are going to buried real deep don't leave any behind.

It's more than that though. Watch this video from UPS, auto truck in AZ.

It only drives an hour down the road and I noticed a few things that made me cringe. A double left turn signal from the inside lane, a right hand turn into the hub at the end that fully utilizes a middle split turn lane, what could go wrong? The truck also varies in speed from 45-65 depending on whos merging on the interstate.

The point is, in a very short time UPS will have the clearance level 4 to no longer require a driver or the engineer to sit in the truck for that run, fully automated.

Notice the car about 3/4 way through that looks like it about ran the light? The truck didn't even flinch, the "driver" was paying no attention at all, any half decent driver should've been on the brakes.

I really like that they're wearing their hi-vis vests while going down the road, is that supposed to make everybody be able to see them better?
