Looks like the driver got a double helping of hurt, but glad he will recover. This would make a good training video.

IP, thank you for the update on the KC accident. Every day I drive by there, I wonder if they ever found out what happened. My prayers go out to the injured student and condolences to the family of the instructor.

It always amazes me that people just look at the name on the trailer and automatically jump to conclusions. Accidents can happen to any driver with any company.

Somewhere on here, there is a thread about leaving your jakebrake ON all the time.

This accident is a perfect example of why you shouldn't !!!

I hope this driver gets feeling better soon, you know he's hurting.

Don't they train better than that in Springfield?
Was he on a training truck? If so, was the training driver sleeping?

Watch the raw interview with the guy. He's not your oblivious, slack-jawed, dummy driver type.

Sh** happens sometimes, even to people that haven't "earned" it.

I've run that lane, Reed City to Murfreesboro, if he'd been doing it for a year...maybe a little familiarity and a little extra speed and jake brakes combined for a bad day.

This guy doesn't seem to be a steering wheel holding caveman- imagine grossing 78,000 lbs with a reefer, driving in the rain. Would you feel safe with your engine brake on? Some guys NEVER turn it off. When it rains, remember his misfortune, any one of us could have been in his place.

Hope he's better soon, and if you missed it, his first concern was missing other vehicles.
