Sometimes some situations can shock some first responders to the core, both law enforcement and emergency medical services alike-even seasoned veterans will tell you this.
    It’s called being human.

Not trying to cause a stir at all but it was just another case of some guy splattered by a truck. It’s not mentioned in the news, but it’s not a rare occurrence for every local department to go to gruesome scenes. A big one is a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head. It’s a nasty scene. Gruesome things happen every week for a department. This cop couldn’t handle one highway scene. He doesn’t have a nack for it. I could see if he arrived on scene and it was a family member. What hits cops the most is to see a dead child or an injured one.
Yes he is human and so am I but being a first responder is not his calling nor was it mine.

Still it’s kinda presumptuous to write someone off because they’re on their hands and knees. Gruesome things can happen in any line of work where machines are involved.

I agree. But someone has to have a calm head. Probably a bunch of by standers making calls and the one first responder is on hands and knees crying or puking is unacceptable.
