Good morning, everyone!
I am at a loss right now and desperately need your guidance.
I moved from Japan to VA (Hampton Road area) 18 months ago and still working on my English so sorry if my language is incorrect.
So, I got my CDL A last month. Got a job offer from Schneider. Everything seemed fine until I was sent home in the middle of the second week at Schneider orientation.
My problem was that I made stupid mistakes on the road - I entered too deep in the intersection when making turn and had to back up. Changed lanes in the intersection. Missed road signs...
I understand this does not sound good... especially if it is marked as "termination" for safety concerns...(I am not sure yet, trying to find it out)
Does one termination with no experience mean all my hopes in this career shattered already?
Is there any way I can still make it right?
What I plan to do right now are 1) APPLY APPLY APPLY 2) get a non-CDL driving job and get better in driving
Any advice or company recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
-Swift turned me away because of my bad English said like you need an English test you can't pass.
-Roehl does not hire from my area.
-TMC has 100lbs lift test which I cannot do.
- Warner / Stevens / Western Express - applied and pending
EDIT: nothing went on my DAC report.
Sent home from Schneider orientation...no experience.

JSanborn103, Peplow, nextgentrucker and 2 others Thank this. -
How long is orientation nowadays? Middle of the second week sounds like training. You were terminated? I'm sure it happens more often than you know. The good news is that there are numerous terrible companies to work for in trucking.
nextgentrucker Thanks this. -
I was hoping it was not "termination" because it could make me disqualify for other companies.
Yes, I do not really care if the company is good or bad. I am just so desperate to start a career in the trucking. -
You're making me wonder....how'd you pass the skills test?gentleroger Thanks this. -
The road test was ok because it was the same route I drove over and over during the school.
It worked different for me with completely new road, completely new truck... -
Just saying, there are 100's of newbies fighting for training companies currently because of the freight, economy, etc.
You might be able to find local and work on your "skills" in the meantime.Lonesome, Deere hunter and gentleroger Thank this. -
About local jobs, will there be a chance for me? I heard that generally fresh out of school OTR jobs are easier to get, most of local jobs require 1-2 years of experience.
Well, I cannot just sit and stay at home. I started to sending applications to local companies for positions that are non-CDL or CDL B -
Concrete trucks, dump trucks outfits, etc....
Look on Indeed.com for local CDL entry level delivery/driver. They're out there.imataloss Thanks this. -
