My hubby is only one or two screw ups from having his CDL suspended. If he does, we have no income. Okay, big deal. We've dealt with worse problems.
Here's where crazy comes in... I want to go! I want to finish off my CDL and get out there myself. For the most part I have been a stay at home mom with a few gigs in dispatch and safety... and running a cancer patient to chemo... and full time care of an Alzhiemer's patient.... so really, I have zero work history.
I have a flawless driving history. I know the job of a truck driver. I had CDL permits and O'Dell trained me well... I just didn't get to finish before the world fell apart...
I don't have the money to pay for school myself. Does this sound crazy? Anyone have any suggestions? (Besides a good shrink, I mean...)

Seriously considering something crazy....

I think you have an excellent idea! It's very draining emotionally taking care of invalids, etc. What does your hubby think of the idea? I for one get wayyyyy too stressed wondering about our income just stopping. One good way to relieve stress and enjoy driving too.
-
My hubby thinks I am insane. Says I need to be committed. About the same thing I told him when he went OTR 6 years ago.... but I KNOW what I am getting into.

Go for it and don't look back! It is not a crazy idea at all. You know the job, what it entails, and what you need to do to make it work. What about kids though? Do you need to be at home?
-
Not really. The kids and I live with my aunt, and she will still be here. The truth is, she knows more about them than I do...
And hubby will be here most of the time.

If you don't try you'll never know. As far as job history goes all you have do is to prove you worked or were unemployed. W-2's from employers or 1099's and tax returns if self employed. As for paying for school, check with your state workforce (employment) commision to see if they will pay for it and check local junior colleges and vo-tech's that have schools for grants and loans.

tell him you are committed..................to driving a truck.... -
Give Roehl, or Watkins Shepherd a check. I believe they train. I know WS does.

Roehl has dubbed this the Housewife Rebellion!

Well, I've talked to several companies today...
Very few are even interested... Geez, if these companies could SEE every thing I have done in the last 10 years, they would know that this will be fairly simple to me! I mean, it's not like I have laid around on the couch eating bonbons watching soap operas!
I managed the day to day care for a cancer patient who refused to behave, and for a bedridden Alzhiemer's patient. I could easily go into a home care job! I have references up the wazzoo for that kind of work! I just don't want to sit by and feel helpless watching someone die again!
I KNOW HOW TO HANDLE A RIG BLAST IT!!! I just wish SOMEONE, ANY ONE would give me a shot at it!
And workforce development won't do a **** thing for me, because I have never been employed long enough to be considered unemployed!
At least Roehl is not laughing at me to my face. They are just trying to work around the lack of work history!
