It seems we have many ''non-believers'' here on this forum that drank alot of the Kool Aid.The only drivers that will believe me are the ones that are actually doing it and reaping the rewards from it...I call them the smart ones.

Miles,Miles, and more Miles today DO NOT PAY and are NOT WORTH the trouble. Not to mention you only get paid the ONE WAY good...That would be from west to east..Once in a while i will run to Kansas City or Ia..But you better believe i got over 2.50 leaving the east coast. If i do not make big leaving the East Side,i stay Local...Much more PROFIT.

Why can't people see this.?.Why can't people see were the real money is in trucking.?.It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this easy business out.?..Trucking is BASIC MATH that a 7th grader can do...

As it turns out i am a BIG LIAR on the truckers forum. So i guess i earned the ''liar'' label..

    WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER..

I believe you. I own four trucks and we don't go farther than 500 miles much often and I see better profit.

I was just awarded a contract for very short hauls. Shipper to Receiver of 18 miles roundtrip, priority loading and unloading. $250 per trip. Now before the big money big riggers chime in an say that is cheap. This is 3 trips a day, From the hours of 8-5, 5 days a week for 1 year to start. Now do the math...

You are right on the money. I do this every chance I get. By the way, I always throw in a FSC too, either mileage or percentage and one hour free loading/unloading and then quote a large detention rate. The FSC seems nitpicky because it's not much money but I'm always paranoid about the Middle East blowing up or some other bizarre event blasting prices through the roof.

The days of the ''long haul'' are numbered.Just not worth it at the end of the day..With all the DOT,HOS and REGS,people should look to short haul and local....Better profit, more family time,Less stress and wear and tear on equipmant and the list of benifits go on and on....

I believe you L/S, have no reason not too, but to say that ALL long haul is dead would be a stretch, it really comes down to WHAT you are hauling.

There is $ to be made in all aspects of trucking , and shorthaul pays very well and not every trip needs to be 1500 + miles .

Heck my 16 year old grandson is making average of $2.50 / mile hauling stuff to from cottage lots around the lake this summer in an old Ford F350 flatbed because theres no 1 else around doing it.
