If both the longshoremen & truck drivers, or just one of them alone, go on strike, it would severely cripple the economy.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.

I don’t reckon they need our help making their point, and I flatly can’t afford to stop working. If it goes on very long a lot of us will be parked anyway, whether we choose to be or not.

I hope it happens. That will help thin the herd out here, which is much needed.

Typically, it's an entity represented by a union that declares a strike, which one of us is going to volunteer? Nobody, that's who. Like the old folks of this country, I've found, with no representation, may as well bend over. Like tarmadilo^, many simply can't afford to go on a strike. I have about 1.5 years in a union, and while a member, the meetings I attended, made a kindergarten class look smart. I was horrified,,,a bigger bunch of crybabies, I never saw being non-union most of my career. When I see someone that's going on strike, I can't help but think what a waste of time. You can't win today, but I suppose they feel they have to try something. As long as I've been involved in trucking, 40+ years, I've seen several attempts to make things right, and nothing ever changed. "Convoy" went nowhere, except #1 on the charts. I sure hope they don't go on strike, but they will, and container ships are already waiting in the harbor, with imported stuff we desperately need. How did this happen? Downright greed, that's how. When brake rotors( and such) were made in Pittsburg, we did okay. Just the cost of a modern society, I suppose. I think in the 30s, strikes had a powerful influence on working conditions and pay, but today, it seems to be a "take it or leave it" mentality. I hope for the best.

Longshoremen would love truckers to participate in the strike.
When the strike is over they revert to treating truck drivers like trash.
