I'm new to flatbedding and my shoulder hurts already. I think I'm winching wrong. Form sucks maybe. Is there a way to winch that's easy on the body?

Use your full body weight as leverage. Get those feet off the ground. Gravity will do most of the work now. Save your muscle strength for the gym

Work smart, not hard. And take your time. We don’t usually wait long enough to be rushed. I don’t rush doing anything.

That’s my philosophy right there. If you want it it will be on my pace. I’ve also been blessed with “extra” leverage so my shoulders don’t hurt. My darn middle fingers do though. Think I got some arthritis from over-using them in my youth... don’t judge me.
Using your body weight is key when securing. Stay safe and keep focused.

I love watching guys do this, especially when something happens and they end up on their butt.

Sir, that's what the Workers Compensation system is for. 6 weeks of paid vacation and painkillers like a MF. No safety-sensitive functions at all, just listening to Yanni saxophone cassette tapes and relaxing in bed. This is a ridiculous image I'm trying to portray

Strap throwing, chains, moving dunnage, tarping, and winching.....all require physical movement you may not have done in the past. It will pass.

I was tightening chains and was not content with the tension i was getting from a 2' bar. Went to shop and explained what i needed, mechanic made a snide remark at which point owner ordered mechanic to fetch the man a 4' bar for leverage NOW! Not all of us have 200 pounds of leverage hanging over our belt shading your feet and small herds of cattle,

I've seen 2 people using their weight and it ended bad! 1st guy had all 250#'s on top of the bar when it broke and he face planted on the corner of the trailer. He still can't chew right! The other had the bar at the bottom and was pushing with his foot when it snapped back on him... I think he sings soprano in the church choir now!! If I can't pull it tight enough I throw an extra strap or chain. As you learn technique and get stronger that pain..lIke everything else... shall pass!

Jazz1, already gone and 4mer trucker Thank this.
