Sign on with carrier, or run own authority

    Thanks for the replies. That is the only thing that I didn't like was giving up 23%. But, I wouldn't have to worry about finding loads right off the bat. Contemplating running with them for a year to get a little more versed in hauling other loads. Like I said, most of what I've been hauling is not coming out of a plant or mill, so I'm a little rusty on that. Thinking at taking a look at some of the load boards. Just have a lot of options at the moment.

    It’s been my experience that not all shippers need/want a contract with a small carrier either.

    If you have been your own boss for many years and did not go broke, get your own authority, you will be absolutely fine.

    Exactly. Many of them are using brokers to handle volume.
