Truck stops seem emptier these days, usually on a Sunday evening it would be a PITA to find a spot. This Flying J # the 150 off 85/40 in NC has a rather large parking lot for a Flying J, but over 1/2 of it is empty. We pulled in at around 5:30 PM and got a spot right next to the building... and its a real actual parking spot o.0
I estimate maybe 30-50 trucks here, with over 200 truck parking spots. So um... not a good sign?

No, not a good sign. -
Yup, thats where we are stuck till tommorrow... or tuesday. And despite my intel they do NOT have a horsey game >.<

Why is this not a good sign? I've been reading for weeks that the lots being packed with sitters was a bad sign due to less freight.

There are still truck stops that are full by 7 each night. There are some that are not.
As far as the sitters, this depends on the area of the freight.
I noticed the last few months, spots were easier to find till about 9 at night. Most of the stops filled up later, but not as bad as they used to be. -
Actually I'd rather see the truck stops empty till later at night myself too. I do hope it means that freight is picking up for everybody!

From what I see on this forum, it does not appear to be picking up.
Flatbedder I know that hauls alot of building products is hurting. -
