    I believe that the clearance number is the badge number of whatever POE officer gives you clearance. I am not positive, but it seems like we get identical clearance numbers frequently.

    They usually are the date then the number that you are on the list like 311-22 would be 3-11-2017 number 22 to call in today.

    The one I tried to get over the phone a month ago said we needed a cat scale ticket. Might be a little easier for you local guys. Load was under 10 feet but we were stuck in the springs until 6pm and would not get there until after they closed at 8 pm. So we got a clearance number and pulled out ate the exit 4 rest area for the night.

    Maybe it varies from one POE to another, because our numbers are usually like 596. That might make sense as the volume of permitted loads through Alpine, who we usually deal with, is probably much less than most the other Ports.

    I like TN. 9 times out of 10, they are too busy dealing with trucks going through the scales that they barely pay attention to the guy bringing the permit in. Sometimes they even seem annoyed that they have to deal with you. Another good thing is if you are a little heavy, I've never had a permitted load weighed at a TN scale.

    That's about the only one I think. Maybe the super coop at the AL line. I can't remember on that one

    @Tug Toy
    Some good info here. I'm not sure if you'd read this one. Luck in battle
