So it’s a single rear axle? Or do you have super singles?

less than 30 miles since they were mounted, and dismounted, and all balanced - and re-mounted.
I'm thinking new front shocks, or do the king pins again.
But,I don't see how new tires perfectly balanced, would show up deficiencies in either?

Idk. Sure seems like something with tires if that's when you first started noticing it. I have heard of tire balancers being out of calibration and no matter how good the tire guy is it won't be right.

I guess as a last resort you could take it somewhere else. Could be shocks or king pins but i've personally never heard of that causing a shake. Bad shocks or front end parts could amplify a shake, but I doubt it would be the cause of a shake. Just my opinion.

On my Toyota rav4 had something very similar happen. Old tires rode smooth. New Goodyear tires mounted and balanced. Instantly rode like you described. Took it back and everything was rebalanced. Turned out that by hanging the rear end while the car was on the lift, the u joints on the driveshaft went wonky from the unusual angle.

Also possible that they jacked it up by lifting in the wrong spot and bending something such as catching a tie rod.

My money is on the tires just needing a few thousand miles on them.

    Both good observations.
I watched this guy jack it up, and both times he was real careful.

I failed to mention driveline in my list of possible causes; could be U joints, or yokes, too.
Last night I got called for a tow, so didn't get to have a friend drive along side to see the shake.
I was pissed doing 55 on Rt. 80.

After driving to get tires warm, take tire temps with a infrared thermometer. The warmest tire is the problem.

    Intothesunset and speedyk Thank this.

So.......i bought two new shocks for the front.
Went to put them on and took my hand and pushed it in and out.
    Resistance, but not much.
Rained on the boxes so I'm stuck with them; or I'd take them back.
Took one of the old shocks off and I COULD NOT push it OR pull it.
I then Found the pass. side lower, and driver side top - bolts were loose enough to rattle.
Replaced bolts and added two small washers on each to assure they got tight.
Just took it up to speed - at 80 there is no shake, rattle, and roll.
So I switched out the tires to the old ones and had them balanced.

Now I have to switch them back to the new ones and see what happens??
I hope this is the end, I'm wearing out the tire bars - putting these tires on, and off, and on again.
    And in 4 years I'll be 70.
    More to follow......

    Intothesunset Thanks this.
