    Hey drivers

I have been looking into a bunch of companies(no cdl) and have a short list that includes swift. I know I will need sleep apnea testing. Does swift (or other companies) allow the machine to be a deduction if it’s required by the dot guy or do I have to go on my own to get it.

I will be getting my permit before I leave for school so I wasn’t sure how it worked with the dot physical.

Get your own physical and do not allow a company to give you one.

That does not work with most companies on his short list.
    Or didn't you know that?

Swift drivers can only use Swift approved doctors.

The simple solution is to expand your list.
Swift just churns out drivers, and any mega that requires their doctor to do your physical is only looking to deny you or control your future. sleep apnea testing is not a requirement.

When you are dead, you don’t know that you are dead. It’s only difficult for others.
It is the same when you are stupid.

    I like that.
    It expresses so much.

I'm not sure Swift requires a med card from their doc. I had my med card before I started with Swift. They did review it, but didn't require me to get another from them. I've gotten my med card renewals through them simply out of convenience and cost (it didn't cost me anything getting it from their clinic).
As for the sleep apnea complication, I simply don't know. I don't have apnea and require a machine.

And don't believe the naysayers. Swift isn't a bad place at all to get a start. Probably one of the better places to get started actually. I started with them and they've done just fine by me. Matter of fact I've stayed with them. But, understand why others go elsewhere after the rookie phase. To each there own. Most of the Swift haters around here never worked for Swift. Yes, some folks do have a bad experience with Swift. But, folks have bad experiences at almost any company. So, who knows. I can only relay my experience and it's been a good one for the most part. Not perfect, but the good exceeds the bad enough that I'm content to continue driving for them.

Six, you are the first person, or time, that I have heard of anyone not having to go to a Swift approved doctor for a physical.
Maybe the one you went to in the first place was on their approved list?

And I can't blame Swift for wanting people they trust to give the med exam.
There are those out there that would shop around to get the result they want, and doctors that would say/do anything for the buck or to favor.

Someone mentioned denying someone, or trying to control their future.
But when a company is ultimately responsible for who they hire, it is also their right to require a medical certification that they are confident with.

I kind of doubt it. When I first started I was living in Florida. I just went to a local clinic. Nothing special and it wasn't a nationwide type clinic like Concerta. However, I ended up moving back to Arizona soon after and started the Swift Academy from there. It was the med card from the Florida clinic that they accepted. (Also, took the tests and got my permit in Florida. But, had to retake tests when I came back to Arizona. A CDL learner's permit doesn't transfer from one state to another.)

Look at Prime. They test for sleep apena and also get you the machine if you need it. The new machines have wifi and transmit info, at Prime if you are not compliant 70% of the days 4 hours or more, they will not dispatch you.
