FREEDOM, Maine — A teenage driver attempting to back into a driveway Thursday missed, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

The 16-year-old driver of the 2003 Ford Focus misjudged the reverse maneuver and backed onto a utility pole support wire about 4:30 p.m. on Ayer Ridge Road. Deputy Andrew Mulligan saw the accident happen.

“Deputy Mulligan was able to assist the operator out of the vehicle and get her safely away from the car, which had backed up the wire so far it was resting on its front bumper,” Sheriff Jeffrey Trafton said Friday.

The driver wasn’t injured. The vehicle was towed off the support wire, and Central Maine Power inspected the utility pole and wire for damage.

Must be a townie. My daughter was driving an F250 around my parents' farm at age 12. To be fair she did get it stuck in the mud once, but she pulled it out herself with the tractor.

Get that kid an application for Swift! He's in the "future driver" farm system for mega carriers.

The next best thing when you don't have a hydraulic lift.

Stuff is going to happen... Better let her get it out of the way, or she's going to live at home forever and you're NEVER going to forget about it. Haha.

If she's anything like mine there's a whole string of boys just dying to drive her anywhere she wants to go, which raises a whole other problem.
