The transition to the KW is not going as smoothly as planned. Turns out, because of trucks being traded at a fast pace, they are running out of empty trucks until the new trucks get delivered. My KW wasn't out of shop status when they assigned it to me...it has a check engine light for some map module, and Crete only has the Cummins software, not the software for the rest of the computers for the KW systems. So, now I am at the KW dealer in Orlando waiting my turn to have them check things out.

And I was one of eight drivers being sent to Deland to pick up trucks that hadn't been fixed or released from the Deland shop, some were just waiting detailing, some needed repairs...fuster-cluck is an understatement. I hope swapping to this truck was the right decision. It's an auto, and it has the smart-idle system, so it only idles for 20 min...but it only has OnGuard, not a nanny-cam ##### box that the Freightliners have, so that's a plus.

Day 1 in the dealer, and I am in a hotel. They discovered an emissions fault, and still troubleshooting the original fault in the map module system (what it uses for the cruise and adaptive cruise system)

Well remember the Magnum truck, it shares the same systems...hopefully you have a good dealer and they can get things figured out.

After the message Deland drivers got yesterday, it sounds like they are really getting grumpier than usual about idling. They're saying that the consistent high idlers might get their cruise speed cut back. I told the Assistant Fleet manager the other day that there is a resolution...APU's control engine idling and increase MPG's. He said they'll never do it, wasn't sure if it was a weight issue or a reliability/cost issue, but it looks like Satan will need a parka before Crete buys any APU's.

Update on truck...dealers says it has a bunch of faults from the adaptive cruise system. I may be mistaken, it just has the regular OnGuard, and those are only a warning and accident prevention(as in slam on the brakes when it thinks you're gonna crash) not a true adaptive cruise system...but I have only ever had OnGuard on Freightliners and International (manual trans)...not sure how it works in these KW's

I'm passing a Crete the other day doing 70. He's doing 65 on cruise I assume. I don't cut other drivers off so I was at least 300-400 ft past him when I came back over yet he still felt the need to switch over to the middle lane when I was going into the right lane (as if I was going to slow him down). Of course in the process he cut off some other driver who was also trying to pass his slow truck so that driver went into the 3rd lane and slowed down some of the flying suvs who then went into the 4th lane. All because of a BS cruise control setting.

But the morons at Crete probably don't see how this can be a safety issue.
