I needed to get as far north as possible. Tomorrow is going to be a 700ish mile day so I can get within as short a drive as I can to deliver. That way I can get back out of Canada after delivering.

You know it isn't a good sign when the receiver you're about to hand your paperwork to has that "sacrebleu" look on his face when he sees you. (I am delivering outside Montreal). They said it's gonna be a little while before they pull my racks off...I guess they have no room at the Inn.

*update. I wish I had more loads with "gonna be a little bit" wait times like this. I was empty and reloaded within 2 hours and rolling out of town.

I have a question for my fellow flatbeders that have coil hauling experience...

Are these strong enough (or even legal) to use to secure a steel coil?

On our Manac trailer they have the same load rating as the stake pockets.

I have tried to use them on our flats when securing our wiper blade arms, but it seemed to me that they were made for more of a vertical angle like going over a lumber or pipe load. At anything less than 45° they didn't have much surface on the inner lip

That's a good point, we hardly ever use them.

I didn't realize that they had that high of a load rating. Would make me nervous securing a 40k+lb coil with those.

Well, things have taken a positive turn. I rolled out of Canada on my Montreal empty rack load headed to Spring Hill. Decided to do a 36-hr at the Petro in Waterloo, NY. Just after noon, my DM calls. They have me headed back to Canada. This time to St.Augustin, Quebec. I have my fingers crossed that this is the start of a positive stretch of decent weeks.

It looks like the casino will come and pick you up too.
And if looks like they got Guinness on tap and you can rent a Rascal for 10 bucks to get around.
Plus all the money you will win. Truck drivers always win big.
