I was there yesterday.
If you had your head in the sand, you never would've
Known there was a fire.
Everybody in the office and shop just as lazy
As they always are.
Business as usual.
I was expecting carnage.
Didn't see anything different.
I drove all the way to the back and looked around.
All that crap sitting on the ground across from
The shop went up. There wasn't even any smoke
Left coming from the pile.
Just a few guys on forklifts out there moving stuff around.
Poly will do what they always do,keep pumping
Out those trash bags.

Honestly, I thought at one time that I would pull glass for the rest of my career...now, I can't wait to get the flying fornication away from it. I pray that when I see the doctor in a few weeks, he says all the kidney stones are gone. Although, based on the small amount of 'bird seed' sized pieces I have passed, that's very wishful thinking. I am on another Carleton live load that Wylie had me swap trailers for. I chose a Wylie double drop because it's easier and quicker to load. The latest kidney stone treatment has knocked my energy level and stamina down tremendously. The 1st one(which was more invasive) dropped it some, but the last ultrasound treatment has, for some reason, knocked me down a lot, and the thought of live loading a Moore double drop was more than I thought I could handle right now. I get to Carleton early, and shipping puts me right in a door thinking that because I had a Wylie conestoga, it would be quick. I am picking up 7 stoces. 4 130 x 204, 3 102 x 130. the loaders at the plant said they can't load it because the deck is too narrow to handle 4 stoces stacked on one side. Dispatch suggested that they load 2 of the 3 smaller glass end to end, but that would leave the ends hanging out, unpadded because they have to leave room between the packs to get the slings out. So, there I sat. Then they said they could load it, but with thinner foam padding, then they changed their mind again and said hold on.....so I sat. They finally had me pull out so the guy that was there at his appointment time that they were trying to rush to get me done ahead of was there...and his was a straight forward load...so now I sit, running out of hours and another wasted day of glass hauling goes down the tubes.

Finally got out of Carleton. They decided they would load me without 2 pieces of foam on the trailer frames like the load sheet said. (This delivery customer is baffled by all the extra foam, has no idea where those instructions came from). But...the loaders insisted that they put 3 of the 4 130x 204 stoces on 1 side instead of splitting them evenly. I told them it would still fit if they put 2 one each side, then 2 of the smaller glass on one side, and 1 smaller glass on the other...but they swore it wouldn't fit. The crazy thing is, these Wylie doubles aren't set up to handle 1 large stoce. The pins where you hook the ratchet strap into the foot is 4 inches away from the glass, and it makes the foam poly-log that goes in the middle of the strap fall out because the strap doesn't arch around it...I ended up putting 2 1.5" pieces of foam on top of the poly-log just to keep enough pressure on the center of the glass to keep it from moving...but, at my last load check when I shut down, all the glass was still where they set it, and so far, no breakage
This is what it's supposed to look like
And this is what I had to do to make it work
Still not much of an arc at the bottom, but it's enough to keep the log in place with enough pressure to keep the glass tight against the frame.Last edited: Aug 25, 2020

Success. Load made it just fine to delivery, even with it being loaded the way it was. Was talking with my DM the other day. His mood wasn't good. He had 2 transfer loads brought in with broken glass... It sounds to me, just from general conversations with people behind the desks that Wylie is breaking a lot of glass every week. Can't say I am surprised, they are still running off experienced glass haulers, and replacing them with general freight flatbed drivers, then giving them insufficient training. Spoke to a driver who recently transfered from general freight the other day, he said he wasn't impressed with what he has experienced thus far, and is seriously considering moving back. I wonder if they'll miss me when I move on...

Yes but will never admit it.

I guess I can stop blaming Mascot for operational hiccups. We got a list of contacts, their phone number and location for the glass operations team from the HR VP yesterday. 1 name was shown to be in Mascot. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a message soon about changing our ELD time base from Mascot to Fargo time zones. Very soon, all things that us Moore drivers found familiar will be a distant memory. And I can now stop calling my DM a DM... driver managers/dispatchers here are called Driver Support Specialists...you can tell how close to the bottom a bottom feeding company is by the titles they give to every level of employment. I guess the person who drives the mop in the new Fargo High Command center is a Covid prevention specialist. I am not trying to insult my dispatcher, even he referred to himself as a dispatcher. It seems everyone else but us inventory relocation specialists (a.k.a. drivers) got a new title. Shows ya what they think of us lowly drivers huh. I guess when I turn in my resignation, I will have to submit it to the Resignation Information Dispursment Specialist, who works as an assistant to the senior HR Generalist (HR Generalist is an actual title here)
Also, to illustrate the quality of the equipment they buy here, I picked up the very same trailer that had the scale rite wiring harness issue a few months back. When I went to lower my landing gear at my delivery yesterday, about 3 or 4 cranks in, the handle falls off. The nut, that is suppose to be one of those nylon lined self locking nuts, fell off somewhere in transit. Fortunately I had a replacement, but it's a regular nut, so I had to ding up the threads on the bolt a little to keep it from coming off again. Reitnouer quality!!!Last edited: Aug 27, 2020
