Must be 2 months ago I put a new radiator in, and there is a transmission cooler under it,
the hoses go into a plastic socket that has stainless clips that it pops in behind to hold them.
Similar to BMW radiator hose design. (not liking this crap already.)
Three spots @ 120 degree apart is all that holds the hose into the cooler.
Then you slip a flimsy, next to useless - thin plastic collar over - to lock it in place.

So I just retraced my drive route to the scene of the crime, and sure enough,
splooge! sh## tons of oil trailing up the hill, to where eventually "check trans"
light came on, and I stopped to find smaller hose blew out completely and was hanging.
Always keep a gallon of the (50$ a gal.) Castrol Trans Synd 668 in the side box.
Limped it back to shop and tried putting the hose back and having the clips snap in
securely. But, of course, the hose manuf. didn't communicate with radiator people,
and there is a radius on the edge of fitting, instead of a sharp shoulder to lock into.
It goes in, and behind the stainless wire clips, but if I pull back on fitting, out it comes.
So after doing the in and out thing like 15 times, I came to the conclusion
the plastic retainer was crap. I ended up putting a hose clamp around it all.

John@anytimetruck in Altoona said he gets a narrow wire tie, that fits into the slot
and that keeps it in place. I will try that, and add my clamp over it all,
to try to compress it even tighter.

Anyone out there in television land ever deal with this, and what was your solution?

No I haven’t experienced your issues but I can certainly feel your pain. Last December I put a brand new Roppels Aluminum Radiator in my 389 Pete. No particular reason other than the rig A/C wouldn’t cool like it did when the radiator was brand new when parked at 90 and humid. We were doing an inframe at the time and it was the ideal time for my engine mechanic to do it. One week later at a dealer i was delivering to I noticed antifreeze on the ground. Evidently my mechanic didn’t tighten something and one week of americas heartlands rough roads let my brand new radiator and my brand new fan blade get together.
It’s only money and I am merely venting at this point since I sold the truck and retired but it is still a memory.
    Good luck with your issue!

"sold the truck and retired;" an enviable position.
All the best to you, also, my friend!

I retired 5 years ago, and was too stupid to sell the truck!
    73 in July.
It's like everyone's your friend when they move, and U have a truck.

I'm just venting, also, but I would like a better solution if it's out there.
