So how are you paid? I'm assuming you're an o/o. Are there restrictions as to when you can transport livestock (winter months up north)?

They have plastic panels that block some of the trailer openings. Especially for the pigs, the cows can handle colder temps before it's necessary to restrict airflow. The pighaulers often have a water spray system for summer, as well. You'll see them hooking up to the hydrants while fueling to cool 'em off.

They are putting the panels in for the ones that moo now, too, the USDA has been very involved in animal welfare, lately. I see the panels dropped out in rest areas unless it's really cold and windy.

I'd rather haul poultry, they don't kick, or try to run over you, but it does take all kinds to run these trucks and haul the critters.

Loaded Sunday morning in gilmer and went to sulphur springs. Short haul 50 miles paid 400. I like those. Slept all day and all night after I unloaded in ss. Loaded yesterday morning in winnsboro and went to San Angelo. Turned and burned back to the house to help a friend mount some drive tires then went to ss and loaded and came to gilmer.

I don't have any of those panels for warmth lol. If they are gonna ride with me they gotta be hardy. It makes no difference if it's 120 or 12 degrees we loading like a box car and driving like a NASCAR

Cattle survive worse being out on the range. They huddle together for warmth anyways. Besides, they're not going to be warm for long where they're going anyways, lol I'm terrible!

I met a guy hauling breeding stock, a couple weeks ago, they don't all meet up with the meat makers where they are going.
